Day Two

Day 2.

Genesis 3-5

“...she took and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate. Immediately the two of them did “see what’s really going on” - saw themselves naked! They sewed fig leaves together as makeshift clothing for themselves.”

“God made leather clothing for Adam and his wife and dressed them.”

Question: “What here reminds you of your own life?” How we are still sewing fig leaves together to cover up what we have discovered about ourselves. We sin, we get others to sin with us (because it feels less like sinning when you aren’t alone), and then when we realize what we’ve done, when we realize who we really are, we try to cover it up. We try to deceive not only others, but also ourselves. We lie because sometimes the lies are easier to accept than the truth.

But there’s a good part in all of this. God still loves us, he still cares for us. We try to hide what’s wrong with us, God instead provides a remedy. He took away the silly leaves Adam and Eve wear hiding under, and made them proper clothing. He could have been like “Hey you made the choice, so have fun wearing leaves when it’s cold outside”. But instead, he took care of them.

Psalm 2

“What do you want? Name it: Nations as a present? Continents as a prize? You can command them all to dance for you, or throw them out with tomorrow’s trash.”

It made me think about: What do I want? What should I want? Am I using the power God has given me as a child of His, or am I throwing away gifts from a King because I am too preoccupied to realize their value?
